Eureka Springs

Another great for anyone type of trip!!!

Shoppers, antiquer's, vacationers, church groups, Boy Scouts

And just about anyone else you can think of.

Eureka Springs Arkansas, is a not so commercialized Tourist Haven.  It is located close to the Missouri state line, in Northwest Arkansas.  It is accessible from many highways, Including the Scenic Hwy 23.  There is a wide variety of lodging, from camping on Beaver Lake in a tent, to renting a cozy luxury home with all the necessities.  There is literally hundreds of choices in various types of accommodations.  Anyone, from one person, up to an entire ball team or wedding group, can find what they are looking for here!

There are a lot of chain type motels, tons of historic bed and breakfast's, more romantic cottages than you can shake a stick at, as well as several camping areas and RV parking facilities.

There is no shortage on food here either, many family owned and operated dining establishments, but there is no "Burger King"!  And if you are like me, that's a good thing!

Our trip to Eureka was a Friday through Sunday.  We had lodging prearranged with "Katie Willow Cottages".  This was a first class choice!!  Katie Willow offers small studio type cottages, made for two.  They are decorated in a modern floor plan embellished with furnishings from yesteryear.  We loved our weekend here!! Each one offers a Jacuzzi for two inside, with a separate shower.  The open floor plan of these cottages is great for the weekender.  We spent some time in a few of the local shops.  There are too many to name, but one I would mention for the chocolate lovers out there, "Two Dumb Dames".  This is a fudge factory, and you have never seen so many choices!!  I don't even really like fudge, and found several that I liked, and one that I brought some back with me.  They also have a wide selection of 'sugar free' type fudges, for those who can't have the sugar.

We ate extremely well for the most part.  Except for some 'Mediterranean style' food from one of the cottage/restaurant's close to Katie Willow.  According to the prices and the names on the menu, it seemed a good choice for our fist nite, as a carry out meal.  The ticket rang up around the hundred dollar mark, and it smelled incredible on the way back to the cottage.   MMMMM MMMMM~!  It was a sad disappointment to actually eat it though!  Use caution when dining at unknown places!  One place I would Highly Recommend though, Was "Dukes".  It is on the western side of Eureka, on hwy 62.  This place had incredible food!  We gorged ourselves on Filet Minon`, Crab legs, Peel and Eat shrimp, and some great wine!  I can not think of one bad thing to say for this place!  I would and will go back there in the future.  We also stopped at a nice little breakfast type buffet.  A place called "Pancakes", I liked it but she didn't.  So we are up in the air there, use your own judgment on this one, but I thought it was good.  Of course I had been wanting a waffle since day 1!  haha

We spent ample time in our large jacuzzi tub both nights!  We had bought some 'glow in the dark' bubble bath in a shop downtown, and were both anxious to try it out Saturday nite. Geez! What a disappointment that was.  I'm pretty sure we did it right! LOL!  But we didn't get any bubbles to glow!  I would probably not waste my money on these again folks!  However I do recommend frequent jacuzzi/hot tubbing to any romantic couple!!

While we were there, we drove down to Beaver Lake Dam site for a look around.  This is a beautiful lake, and surely has things to offer for campers, boaters, fishermen, and anyone enjoying the water or nature.  The waters running off the dam offer some good Trout Fishing as well.  As we got out of the truck to walk down on the water, a fellow was carrying out 4 pretty nice fish he had caught.  I'm sure he had fresh Trout for dinner!

All in all our weekend was a smashing success.  We had talked about another trip, that we may take soon.  Not in Arkansas, but I'll be sure to post something on it for anyone who wishes to check it out.

The trip to Eureka is highly recommended!! We loved it and had a great time!!
